A quest for everlasting Glory part 2 Shipwrecks we saw. Still hulls of boats forgotten we sailed by... Men shuddered and old sailors grimaced as they saw the bones of young soldiers older than their ages put together. On our second journey to the far lands of the east. Over the sea that hath not been charted before, a wild wind took us, it shook our sails until we submitted our course to it. Now we pass an ancient graveyard. A burial place of washed up wrecks. No peace I can feel on these shores. They reek of failure and disaster. My men,.. my hardy men will bear the scars of this for some times to come. I do not know if many would sail again,... even if to go back home! To glory! This would be a long campaign! As we buckle down and wait for a favourable wind t bear us out of these desolate shores, our ship-master has brought me troubling news. "My Lord, the salt in these waters, I thought nothing of it, but only until this morning. I sent down the engineer to inspect the hull. It seems like the water here is eating into the wood the salt is so thick that it has nearly dried out the timbers! It is slowly wearing out, so brittle that when they knocked to sound it it started crumbling. I have instructed the men to repair it with boiling water and steam, to put some life back into the wood. We should make it to our destination safely but I'm afraid, we would need new timber and tools to repair the ships for our journey back." The Journey back,.... ah.. that will be a long while to come yet. As soon as the ships reached the promised lands the prince has had the fittest ship repaired. We then raided the city of the this king that would not let us trade in his markets and defeated and extracted a large ransom out of him and a promise to not interfere in our trade. As we settle down and build a new city here, the prince has sent back the lone repaired ship with the booty we captured and a message for new supplies, tools, Iron, gunpowder, arquebuses, halberds... He described how the timber needed curing before being used on the ships. His people have doing doing that always! Now since the land lacks any such timbers suitable for curing, the king has commissioned his finest craftsmen to prepare a way to fit out new ships." Hearing of the account of the damage the salt caused to the ships, the court academics and learned men have realised a new power of Salt. It can be used to dry things out! Perfect for preservation. They have pleaded the king to commission all guilds to prepare and produce a suitable quality of Salt to preserve the food stocks for coming bitter winter. Back in the court of the King (two months prior to the messenger meeting the prince) The king has assembled all guild leaders and commanded that urgent action needs be taken to continue the fabulous mission of the prince. He has decreed that all Lords must compete to provide the kings Caravan with Carts of a minimum quality of q3 and all Guilds of the realm must at the same time also commission the production of Salt q3 for the preservation of the summer food that would otherwise go bad. These must be delivered to the royal storehouse by 22-11-2009 at 23:59:59 CET. Then will the caravan be set off on its longer journey over the land to the prince and his waiting crippled fleet.
