Solution of last edition

In the last edition of the journal we had just left Harold, a courier hired at the capital to run errands by carrying water and pears back to the castle from the Well and Storehouse.

After he collected his pay for the work involved he was curious as to how many fathoms he had actually ran
in the course of his travelling from each location.

We know he had worked for a total of three days,
and completed 33 trips each day.
We also knew the distances to each location ..

From the Castle to the Storehouse it was 165 Fathoms.
From the Castle to the Well it was 50 Fathoms.
Both could be reached in a straight line from
The Castle to the storehouse.

We also know when visiting the Storehouse Harold had left enough room on the cart to collect the Water from the Well on his return trip, thus not needing to visit the Castle and return to the Well at all; this meant the total distance was always 165 Fathoms.

165 times by 33, the amount of times he ran in a day equals 5,445 Fathoms. Times this over the three days and you get the figure of 16,335 Fathoms.

Don't forget however that 165 Fathoms was for just one trip, he would have to do this twice to get there and back.
This means we can double that figure to reach our total of:

32,670 Fathoms
Been the total distance he had ran over the three days.

So for the prizes?
Congratulations to...

Elwynn Forest
Ragnar
Lost Temple

On getting the answer correct, as well as to everyone else who sent in the correct answer for the last puzzle.

These three cities were selected at random to receive the special prize of a Philosopher's Stone.

Good Luck for this week!

Here in the Regnum Journal we are always looking for suggestions or submissions for Word Puzzles, Riddles, and even Spot-The-Difference images as long as they are of a medieval theme.
Remember space shuttles and laser rifles did not exist in the Middle Ages.

If you are willing to contribute then please send submissions via Pigeon to the Journal with the subject Puzzle Suggestion.
Be sure to include the question and solution in the IGM.

Please try to ensure correct spelling on your contributions.
Puzzles which clearly show no effort to check for such mistakes will not be published.
