The IRC Chat

The official IRC chat of kapi-regnum is not only a place to meet other people but also to find suppliers, or purchasers for your products.
There is also a separate channel for Auctions, and since they are all on the same server you may even join the kapilands chat, or alternative languages with different commands.

Why should I visit the chat?

The chat, like the forums is a place where you can get in contact to other users but in a live environment much like Instant Messaging, but without giving out your contact details.
You can exchange general experiences, discuss various subjects of the game, or simply get help from other players.

And since a great portion of the game is trading with other people, you may even find buyers for your produce, or those who are selling a product you need - Occasionally even in a lower price.

Some guilds may also choose to register their own channel on the server for their own guild to use to discuss various topics.

How do I enter the Chat?

There is a feature built into the game to join the IRC Chat through a Java Console, just click the chat link from your Office, or visit the link below;

http://www.kapi-regnum.com/chat/index.php

Using this method you will automatically enter in the correct channel for Kapi-Regnum, and all you need to do is enter a Nickname.

Alternatively if you have an IRC client installed on your computer such as mIRC or Chatzilla, you may wish to use those instead.

If you are not familiar with these clients then unless your planning to join us in the chat long-term then it may be best to simply continue to use the Java Version built into the game.

Server: irc.bre.de.euirc.net
Port: 6667
Channel: #kapi-regnum.com

Direct Link: irc://irc.bre.de.euirc.net:6667/Kapi-Regnum.com

If the above server doesn't work then check the euirc server listings for a list of alternatives: http://www.euirc.net/en/server_admins.php

Can I register my Nickname?

Of Course, and doing so can help prevent others using it which can of course lead to problems if they caused trouble with your nickname in use.

The only real downside to this is you have to identify yourself with a password every time you want to use the Nickname yourself, although some IRC clients can be configured to identify yourself automatically.

If you still want to register yourself then follow these simple steps;
The first step begins with a message to a server bot called "NickServ" - which deals exclusively with Nickname security.

/msg nickserv register password email

You must use a real email address as an authentication code will be emailed to you to activate your nickname's registration with the server.

Instructions are included with the email for the next step, however you need to use that authentication code and send it to nickserv with the command;

/msg nickserv auth authentication code

Once this is complete NickServ should respond to confirm the registration.

Now with each login to the nickname the password you used must be provided within a certain time limit. If this time limit expires then the nickname will be automatically changed to something else.

/msg nickserv identify Password

Note that /msg nickserv can instead be written as /ns to save time.

When registering, and identifying yourself it is advised to use the console window to ensure if you do make a mistake you do not post your password for every body to see.

How do I have to behave in the Chat?

As the saying goes;
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you ..."

This basically means your own behaviour may be reflected by others back towards you. If you treat someone nice and friendly you can expect the same in return, likewise for if you treat someone with disrespect.

Swearing is not allowed at all in any language. People of all kinds may join us in the chat and such language is obviously not acceptable around our younger audience.

What Channels are used? / How do I join a channel?

If using the Java IRC entrance through the game then you automatically join us in #kapi-regnum.com

The Auction Channel is #kapi-regnum.com.ebay

As previously mentioned the Kapilands chats are also hosted on the same server, each with their own Auction and General channels; the basic been #kapilands which is also for the English Server.

You can join any given channel through use of the command;
/join #channelname

Why do some people have symbols beside their name,
And what are they?

Members of the team including, but not limited to Chat Moderators or UpJer's staff may have certain symbols beside their name, and each of these symbols shows a certain status on the user.

~ or ! (depending on Java or Program)  -  These two symbols are in relation to the +q status, which identifies the creator/owner of that particular channel.
For the #kapi-regnum.com channel this is MAChemicals, who works in the UpJer's offices.

& or ! (depending on Java or Program)  -  These two symbols are in relation to a +a status, which means "Protected" although more commonly referred to as Administrator.
This Protected status blocks the user from been kicked from the channel unless by the channel owner, and is often used in conjunction with the Op status +o details of which are below.

@  -  This symbol refers to those with an Operator (+o) status, given to the Chat Moderators. This status allows the user to kick others from channel, as well as set modes on others up to op themselves, as well as been able to set and remove bans.
They may also change the title of the chat and set certain channel modes.

%  -  This symbol refers to those with an Half-Operator (+h) status, similar to the standard Operator, but with limited abilities.
They can kick other users up to their own mode level, and set bans.

V or + (depending on Java or Program) - While not really a symbol the V denotes those with Voice (+v) status. Unlike the above modes, there are no special abilities included with this mode, only that they will still be able to talk if the channel mode "Moderated" (+m) is activated which prevents lines been sent to the channel from those without a status. They can also assign voice to other users.

Other Notes

1. The most important note of all is that although there may be several people in the channel when you join, we do not check the screen all the time, and may be away.

If we don't respond immediately then give us a few minutes, and perhaps try talking yourself - Quite often we're just watching the screen wondering who will start a conversation first.

2. Remember the channel is for this server of Kapi-Regnum, the English server, so the language is English there too. Not everyone can understand German, or other languages.

3. A filter is in place to prevent excessive flooding. Any more then three messages within five seconds may result in your been kicked from the channel - If using IRC Clients it is recommended to avoid the use of multi-line editors.

4. Puzzle/Contest answers should not be posted under any circumstances. Besides, you could be wrong about the answer anyway.

If you have any other questions then join us in the chat to ask.
Chances are at least one of us will be able to assist in any queries you may have.
