A local villager has recently inherited a number of acres
from his father. Unfortunately the land hasn't been kept for several years and
much of it is covered in weeds, stone and even old tree stumps.
Needless to say this inheritance seems more like a weight
added to our friends shoulders in terms of the work involved, and cost.
Cost at this point he cannot afford.
Discussing the situation with his family he considers to
sell the land to an investor, but that would only take that weight from his
shoulders, and throw it onto another person.
He decides to himself to make the effort and turn the land
around. Possibly to eventually build himself a nice Farm,
or perhaps even breed Cattle.
Both would cost the same amount in order to build up the
general surroundings and buildings, although different costs would incur to
plow the land, or purchase some animals. Not to mention the cost of seeds, or
beets & grain for animals.
However his lack of education means he cannot calculate all
the math required to work out the costs exactly.
This is where you come in.
This villager has come to you to seek assistance in working
out the costs to transform his land into either a Farm, or a Cattle Farm.
Estimations state it would cost around 9,400 ¢τ to clean up the land
for starters, including labour fees.
An additional 38,500 ¢τ would then be required to
build a few buildings around the land including a Hut to live in, and a large
storage barn to store produce, tools and a few carts.
The Tools and Carts would need to be purchased separately
however adding up to 1,650 ¢τ in total for the necessary equipment.
Now comes the differences.
In order to convert the land for farming purposes the ground would need to be
ploughed at a cost of 6,200 ¢τ plus an additional 340 ¢τ to
purchase seeds for a basic harvest for the first year. Plus this would allow
him to sell his harvest quarterly, or four times a year.
Alternatively to convert the land for cattle farming the
land would need to be seeded to produce grass for grazing. Grass is much
cheaper then plant seeds however and only yields a cost of 85 ¢τ.
Animals however are much more expensive. In order to keep Pigs or Deer he'd
have to pay out 2,700 ¢τ per animal, although he'd need at least two
for a breeding pair.
The cost would be much higher though if he brought several
animals at a time to increase his breeding yield. Although he'd also have to
wait for the young to fatten before they could be sold at market or to a
Butchery, thus he'd only be able to sell his animals perhaps at most twice a
year.
Question: After careful consideration our friend decides to convert the
land into a Farm. How much would this conversion cost in total?
If you believe the answer is "84,000 ¢τ"
for example,
then your Subject Title should state this.'
