What Am I? (1)

I am seen as larger then I really am with these things on my head,
I am brown in colour often with a shade of white or black spots,
I live in the wild in the cold and chase penguins for fun,
When in the season I race with my friends following the stars,
Pulling with us a sledge around the world from chimney to chimney,
Oh what a weight we have to pull each year!

Question:
What am I?

Hint: Read.. then Think.

Good Luck to everyone in finding the solution for this second puzzle of the Regnum Journal.

Be sure to double check your solution before sending as only your first answer will be accepted.

Difficulty Rating: 2/5

Deadline for solutions is Friday, 18th January 2008- 23:59 pm.

Good Luck for this week!

Solution of last edition

The Guard's Password Solution

There was a fairly mixed set of answers appearing with the last puzzle however the correct answer was Five.

The first person to visit the guard was told the word 'Twelve' and gave the answer 'Six'.
The second was told 'Six' and answered 'Three'

At this stage many people thought it was simply half the value of what the guard said; however.

The third person was told 'Five' to which they replied 'Four'.

At this stage a pattern begins to arise - Do you see it?
Let's break down the letters.

T-w-e-l-v-e
S-i-x
F-i-v-e

Each word is made up of a number of characters which in turn was the answer given.

The poor man was told the number 'Seven'
S-e-v-e-n

Which consists of five characters so the answer was Five.

And so for the prizes?
Congratulations to...

Hao
La Town du la Q
Ithaka

On getting the answer correct, as well as to everyone else who sent in the correct answer for the first edition puzzle.

These three cities were selected at random to receive a prize from Edition 1 and shall receive them shortly.

Here in the Regnum Journal we are always looking for suggestions or submissions for Word Puzzles, Riddles, and even Spot-The-Difference images as long as they are of a medieval theme.Remember space shuttles and laser rifles did not exist in the Middle Ages.

If you are willing to contribute then please send submissions via Pigeon to the Journal with the subject Puzzle Suggestion.
Be sure to include the question and solution in the IGM.

Please try to ensure correct spelling on your contributions.
Puzzles which clearly show no effort to check for such mistakes will not be published.
