Solution of last edition

The manager for the Weaver's Mill would have needed a budget of 58,585 ¢τ for all the construction materials and labour costs to complete his project.

Let's break this down to understand how it all adds up.

Firstly note that unlike in the previous riddle there is a basic cost for all the various building materials required for the expansion - 180 ¢τ per 1 squared metre.

There is also a labour cost of 2,000 ¢τ per 1 sqm during the construction. This brings us to a total of 2,180 ¢τ. However there was an increase in cost for these materials and labour since his original quotation.

We're told the figures of 2,100 ¢τ for Labour costs, and 210 ¢τ for the different materials required giving a total of 2,310 ¢τ. He has also been given a discount on this figure for the last 5 metres of the construction.

Before we add this discount into our calculations let us first work out the cost for 15sqm with these increased costs.
2,310 * 15 = 34,650 ¢τ.

Now we also know for the remaining five the manager receives a discount of 10% per squared metre.
At this stage we take the value of 2,310 and remove 10% from it to get a new total of 2,079 - and times this by five to reach 10,395 ¢τ.

Now we can calculate the total for the construction costs;
34,650 + 10,395 = 45,045 ¢τ

Remember however this isn't our total value, as we still have to pay the workers, and hire new ones.

The manager hires 38 workers at the rate of 300 ¢τ a week, however 19 of these will not be working during the expansion, but will still be paid.
19 * 300 = 5,700 ¢τ

The other 19 workers will be made at the rate of 300 ¢τ, plus a bonus of 20% during the expansion of the Mill.
300 * 1.2 = 360 ¢τ
19 * 360 = 6,840 ¢τ

Now lets add these figures together;
5,700 + 6,840 = 12,540 ¢τ

Checking the riddle .. Are we done? Not quite.
With the expansion completed, we need to hire two new workers for the Mill!

These will be paid the standard 300 ¢τ for a week, plus a starting bonus of 500 ¢τ - However since they will not be hired until after the expansion is completed we only add their starting wage into the calculation.
500 + 500 = 1,000 ¢τ.

Now add these figures up to come to the total;
34,650 + 10,395 + 5,700 + 6,840 + 1,000 = 58,585 ¢τ

Since we've now had two difficult riddles in a row, the one for this week should be much easier, with an eye for detail.

And so for the prizes?
Congratulations to...
